With the success of the Great Fiji Butterflyfish Count in November 2008, we at Treasure and Bounty Island Resorts are proud to announce our participation in the Great Fiji Butterflyfish Count 2009 which will be held from the 10th to the 17th of October.
This is an opportunity for all visitors to get involved in celebrating and recording an aspect of Fiji's coral reef biodiversity. Show that you care for the World's delicate coral reef systems, and have fun by taking part in the week long hunt for the Great Fiji Butterflyfish!!!!!!!!
Easy to do, this is suitable for visitors and locals alike, whether they be a snorkeler, SCUBA diver or Glass-bottom boat passenger. Tourists, school children, scientists and all people with an interest in the marine environment can take to the reefs to search for Butterflyfish.
All results will go towards the Fiji Reef Check and to the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network Coordinator for analysis. This is a fun event you can either do alone or with the family, where you can either snorkel, dive or go on a glass bottom boat trip and mark as many butterflyfish as possible on the underwater slate provided.
The Great Fiji Butterflyfish Count will be held all over Fiji and your support and participation will be highly appreciated and i for one cannot wait to get started.
