EARTH HOUR

Bula everyone,

Earth Hour on Treasure Island was amazing, It was my very 1st experience on Treasure Island and I also had a wedding to organise on that day. I really had a wonderful experience, especially being part of the serenading group for that night was amazing. The candles gave a romantic yet earthy touch and the wedding couple (Mr & Mrs Heidi & Shane Boulton) were left reeling from the great sounds of our local tunes led by the very entertaining, energetic PRO's (Mr Henry Waqaciri & Mr. Max Talaboko). Apart from the great entertainment, staff were as enthusiastic as ever to escort guests back to their Bures after dinner and despite the downpour that night both guests and staff showed their support for earth hour 2009. With this experience i look forward to Earth Hour 2010.

Good morning to you all from all us out here on Treasure and Bounty Islands. No doubt many of you have heard that Fiji is currently experiencing devastating weather with torrential rains and the worst flooding since 1972. There is certainly a lot of damage and disruption in town and our heart goes out to all of those effected.

So this note is to reassure you that while there is no doubt this is a very serious time for our beautiful country out here we are blessed to be able to function normally. It is a little damp, with some damage especially around the beaches, however life out here continues as normal with our hard working staff going all out to keep spirits up, and guests still sharing wonderful experiences ranging from relaxing in the pool and watching the waves, and seeing amazing storm sunsets, to Dom and Maria's beautiful renewal of vows/ 25th anniversary in the midst of the worst of the storm. In Fiji we believe that rain on a wedding day is very good luck. Imagine the good luck this couple will have! We also are blessed to have our own supply barge and power generation and good stocks of water, fuel and food to take us through any further disruptions.

I thought I should share with you one of my favourite spots on the island.

The perfect picturesque setting for my, I mean, any DREAM wedding. The island has over the last couple of months catered for many of these such occasions. Over the last 4 months the island alone has seen to about 27 weddings executed successfully & providing the perfect getaway allowing them as well as all our guests to truly experience "one of life's simplest pleasures"

Offering various wedding packages from the Treasure Lailai to the Treasure Fiji Wedding packages, our Wedding Co-ordinator will be at your service 24-7. I truly wouldn't mind such pampering on my special day and I'm certain not a single lady would mind either. With meals, make-up, hair, wedding decorations and meals all being catered for, the bride (hopefully me someday) is free to relax and free herself from any tension to enjoy her special moment.

Our Wedding Co-ordinator, whom I believe needs mentioning is Lavenia Nakala from the beautiful Yasawa Islands. With 6 years under her belt on Treasure Island, she was given the opportunity to take on this postion almost two years ago & has never looked back. The best part about her job, she says is 'when couples are happy in the end, leaving with fond memories of Treasure Island and continually returning for their anniversaries'.
